To the editor, After months of uncertainty, High Plains Fair Housing Center has received its delayed funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). We can now bring back our furloughed staff members and restore critical fair housing services across North Dakota. This was not a new grant. It was the third year of an existing three-year grant funded through the congressionally authorized Fair Housing Initiatives Program. Yet we spent months waiting for HUD to release the funding, with little information about when it would arrive. I want to sincerely thank Sen. Kevin Cramer, Sen. John Hoeven, Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, and the dedicated staff in all three offices. Throughout this process, they remained engaged, followed up with HUD, and continued working toward a resolution. Even when progress was slow and answers were difficult to obtain, they remained persistent. We are grateful to our entire congressional delegation for seeing this through.
